Clark County Approves Contract for Hollywood Blvd Roadwork

Published
Clark County has approved a contract that funds construction on Hollywood Boulevard between Sahara Avenue and Charleston Boulevard. On Oct. 20, the Clark County Board of Commissioners approved Interlocal Contract No. 3302 with the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC), according to the county's legislative record. The county's bid notice says the project aims to make the road safer and work better, with pavement, sidewalk and ADA upgrades, new medians, storm drain work and traffic signal changes. No source we reviewed names a construction start date or a contractor.
What the Commission Approved
The county's record for item 26-2287 lists the item as passed, with final action on Oct. 20, 2026. The item authorizes the commission chair to sign the contract between Clark County and the RTC. DocketCity's copy of the record lists it as a consent item from Public Works.
The RTC placed the project in its Fiscal Year 2027 Capital Improvement Program, funded from its Highway Improvement Acquisition Fund, Fuel Revenue Indexing, according to the county's staff summary. The summary also says:
- The design is at least 90 percent complete.
- All right-of-way needed to build the project has been obtained.
- The contract runs through Dec. 31, 2031, unless time extensions are granted.
- The RTC approved the contract at its Sept. 10, 2026 meeting.
The RTC took two earlier steps on the project:
- Feb. 12, 2026: The RTC Board agenda included a $1,000,000 interlocal contract for Clark County Project 099E, Hollywood Boulevard, Sahara Avenue to Charleston Boulevard. The RTC's capital plan lists this as the design phase.
- Sept. 10, 2026: The RTC's Summary of Fiscal Actions for that board meeting lists $5,200,000 in Highway Improvement Acquisition Fund fuel-tax money programmed for construction (project 099G).
What the Work Includes
The county's staff summary describes pavement mill and overlay, full-depth pavement replacement, manhole and valve adjustments, curb ramp updates, sidewalk repairs, striping and signage updates, and median installation.
Clark County's invitation to bid (Bid No. 607714-25, "Hollywood Boulevard Roadway Improvements") lists a similar scope:
- Pavement removal and replacement, plus mill and overlay
- Sidewalk upgrades and ADA upgrades
- Roadway and striping reconfiguration
- New medians
- Storm drain improvements
- Utility design, intelligent transportation system (ITS) work and traffic signal changes
Two Dollar Figures, Two Different Measures
The public records contain two different figures, and each one measures something different.
- Construction funding programmed: $5,200,000. This is the amount the RTC's Sept. 10 Summary of Fiscal Actions lists for Hollywood Boulevard construction.
- Estimated construction cost: $11,114,011 to $12,283,907. This is the range Clark County's invitation to bid gives as the estimated cost.
The sources we reviewed do not explain the difference between the two figures.
On the design side, the county's Public Works design projects list, dated Sept. 22, 2026, shows "Hollywood Boulevard, Sahara to Charleston" at 90% design.
What This Means for Owners and Renters
For owners: County and RTC records describe the planned work along Hollywood Boulevard between Sahara and Charleston: pavement, sidewalks, curb ramps, medians, drainage and signals. None of the sources gives a construction start date, a schedule or a contractor. The staff summary lists a contract term through Dec. 31, 2031, unless time extensions are granted. Schedule and traffic information would come from Clark County Public Works and the RTC. For other common owner questions, see our FAQ.
For renters: The listed work includes new sidewalks, ADA and curb ramp updates, and traffic signal changes along this stretch. The county's staff summary also says all right-of-way needed for the project has been obtained. The records we reviewed do not describe lane closures or detours.
