GFiber Launches Internet Service in Las Vegas, Summerlin
By The Property Management Firm
Published
GFiber, the Google Fiber internet service owned by Google's parent company, Alphabet, began offering service in the Las Vegas area on Tuesday, March 10, starting in Summerlin. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on March 6 that service would begin that Tuesday, and GFiber announced its first Las Vegas connections and a new Summerlin office in a March 10 blog post.
Where Service Started
The Review-Journal reported that Summerlin was first, with Paradise and other areas to follow. GFiber said its construction crews were expanding across the City of Las Vegas and other parts of Clark County, working neighborhood by neighborhood in the coming months.
GFiber also said its sales team was signing up residents and talking with multifamily communities about bringing service to their buildings. The Review-Journal reported that GFiber would initially be available in Nevada only in Summerlin before expanding.
How the Launch Came Together
The Review-Journal reported that Clark County approved a franchise agreement with Google Fiber for unincorporated areas of the county in February 2024, and that the City of Las Vegas approved a franchise agreement for areas within city limits in June 2024. GFiber's crews have been laying fiber-optic cable since breaking ground in January 2025, the newspaper reported.
KTNV reported at the time, on Jan. 16, 2025, that Google Fiber had broken ground on the west side of the city and expected construction to follow in more parts of Clark County the next month. KTNV said the company then had agreements with both Clark County and the City of Las Vegas. Ashley Church, the company's West Region general manager, said at the time that GFiber would build its network while working to minimize disruption to residents.
The company held a public launch event and product demonstration from 4 to 6 p.m. at El Dorado Cantina in Tivoli Village and opened a new office in the Meridian complex near Flamingo Road and Hualapai Way, according to the Review-Journal. In GFiber's blog post, Ashley Church, general manager for the West Region, wrote that the company had broken ground on the west side of the valley a year earlier and was celebrating its first connections and the move into its new Summerlin office.
The Review-Journal reported that GFiber operates in 19 states.
The Service
According to GFiber, Las Vegas customers can choose from its full set of plans, from Core 1 Gig up to Edge 8 Gig, with matching upload and download speeds. The Review-Journal also reported a 3 Gig Home plan.
The Review-Journal reported that routers are included, that there are no charges for installation, activation or equipment, and that the company does not require contracts or impose data caps. GFiber has offered service since 2012, according to the newspaper.
Melani Griffith, GFiber's chief growth officer, told the Review-Journal that the network is entirely fiber, giving customers the same speed for downloads and uploads. "We are here to invest in Las Vegas for the long term," Griffith said.
What This Means for Owners and Renters
For renters: GFiber added another home internet option in Summerlin, with the Review-Journal reporting that Paradise and other areas were next. Availability depends on the address, and GFiber said it was in talks with multifamily communities about service for their buildings. The company's plans have matching upload and download speeds, according to GFiber.
For owners: GFiber's crews were building out across the City of Las Vegas and parts of Clark County, according to the company, and the Review-Journal reported that construction had been underway since January 2025. The company said its crews would keep working neighborhood by neighborhood in the coming months.
