Five companies expanding or relocating in Southern Nevada were approved for state incentives on May 14, a package the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance (LVGEA) said would bring more than 200 new jobs and more than $166 million in capital investment to the region. The approvals came at a meeting of the Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED) board, according to LVGEA. Three of the five projects are in North Las Vegas.
The Five Companies
LVGEA described the projects this way:
- Nuance Medical: A 25,000-square-foot headquarters and distribution facility in Clark County, with 25 jobs over two years at an average wage of $37.05 an hour and about $589,000 in capital investment.
- Redapt: Moving its global headquarters to Henderson and adding an AI-ready integration facility, with 75 jobs at an average wage of $76.59 an hour and about $3.76 million in capital investment.
- Taylor Print: A North Las Vegas operation with 25 jobs at an average wage of $27.05 an hour and more than $5 million in capital investment.
- Edgewood Renewables: A North Las Vegas project with 60 jobs at an average wage of $40.71 an hour and more than $138.7 million in capital investment.
- Forge Industries: A North Las Vegas project with 16 jobs at an average wage of $47.50 an hour and more than $18.3 million in capital investment.
The two outlets and LVGEA described what the companies do:
- Nuance Medical makes medical products and is consolidating operations from Nevada and California, according to LVGEA. The Review-Journal reported the company is headquartered in Carlsbad, California, and has a related company already operating in Henderson.
- Redapt plans a headquarters and technology facility focused on AI-ready infrastructure, according to LVGEA and the Review-Journal.
- Taylor Print & Visual Impressions is a subsidiary of Taylor Corp. and is expanding its existing North Las Vegas facility.
- Edgewood Renewables plans a facility that makes renewable gasoline from renewable natural gas and other feedstocks.
- Forge Industries plans a facility that converts non-recyclable waste into alternative fuel for industrial use. LVGEA said it would be the company's first U.S. production facility.
LVGEA said the projects are expected to produce more than $9.7 million in fiscal impact and more than $227 million in economic impact over two years.
Where the Numbers Differ
The outlets reported some figures differently:
- Forge Industries investment: LVGEA listed more than $18.3 million. KSNV reported $13,962,530, and the Review-Journal reported about $13.9 million. KSNV and the Review-Journal both described a 105,000-square-foot facility.
- Redapt jobs: LVGEA listed 75 jobs. The Review-Journal reported 100 jobs within five years.
- Edgewood Renewables wage: LVGEA listed $40.71 an hour, while KSNV reported $40.70.
KSNV reported 101 jobs and a combined $157,778,420 in investment for the three North Las Vegas projects, including $138,718,000 for Edgewood Renewables and $5,097,890 for Taylor Print. KSNV also reported nearly $17 million in tax revenue tied to the Edgewood project.
The Statewide Picture
The Review-Journal reported that the GOED board approved incentives for nine companies statewide at the meeting. According to the newspaper:
- The nine companies received about $19.8 million in tax abatements.
- They planned $186.9 million in capital equipment purchases.
- The projects were expected to generate $60.6 million in new tax revenue.
- The companies planned 534 jobs over five years, at an average wage of $42.46 an hour.
The Review-Journal's headline put the nine companies' total planned investment at $264.3 million. The $60.6 million in new tax revenue covers the 10-year abatement period, according to the newspaper. Five of the nine companies are in Southern Nevada; the other four are in Northern Nevada, including Valeo North America, which plans 180 jobs in Storey County, the Review-Journal reported.
What This Means for Owners and Renters
